GM persecutes activist in Argentina
The former union delegate Sebastián Romero was suspended by the automaker
The Metalworkers Union of São José dos Campos and Region – Brazil, together with CSP-Conlutas condemn the acts of persecution that General Motors has been carrying out against the former union delegate Sebastián Romero, Argentina. In a letter, the comrade reported the disgraceful measures taken by the automaker.
Because Romero is an activist, GM makes every effort so that he gives up his political and union actions. Without success, the company suspended him.
He has several injuries as a result of ten-year work in the factory. Even so, according to what he tells, he receives ill-treatment from the company's HR and does not receive the necessary medical care.
Faced with these and other actions of disrespect committed by GM, the Union and CSP-Conlutas offer all solidarity to the comrade.
"These GM actions aim to intimidate and inhibit the workers' organization so that the company continues to increase rampantly its profits. This occurs in many countries and, therefore, a broad international campaign of solidarity is needed", said Luiz Carlos Prates, 'Mancha', from the National Secretariat of CSP-Conlutas and of the Workers’ International Committee of the Automakers’ Companies.
